Volunteer to be a Tutor

Tutors work in the Adult Literacy Program empowering another adult by teaching basic reading, writing, and functional literacy skills. Volunteers receive instruction in tutoring techniques and receive ongoing support. Tutors and students meet once per week for 1 to 1-1/2 hours per meeting at a time and at a public location convenient for both the tutor and student. No experience is required and tutoring services are provided all around the county.

A Family Literacy Program is also available to families of Adult Learners with young children.

To learn more about becoming a volunteer tutor, contact the Literacy Program at the Lakeport Library at
