Lake County Literacy Coalition (LCLC) is a non-profit volunteer organization that sponsors and supports the Adult and Family Literacy Program of Lake County Library.
Our Mission:
To promote increased literacy in Lake County through added financial support of the Adult and Family Literacy Programs of the Lake County Library.
LCLC is affiliated with Pro-Literacy, the world’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization dedicated to adult literacy.

Want to help others? Become a volunteer literacy tutor! No experience needed. Attend free training to become a Volunteer Literacy Tutor and help change a life through the power of literacy! Call 707-263-7633 or email literacy@lakecountyca.gov to register for the next training on Wednesday October 23, 2024, from 10am to 4pm at the Redbud Library in Clearlake. Bilingual Spanish speakers encouraged to attend along with individuals interested in tutoring at the Lake County Jail.

On May 20th, 2024, we celebrated our amazing tutors at our annual Tutor Appreciation Tea at the Ely Stage Stop and Country Museum! We are grateful for all of the hard work and dedication our tutors put in throughout the year. They are truly wonderful and big-hearted individuals, providing the perfect support for students in their English writing and reading journey. Thank you, tutors! Additionally, we would like to extend our thanks to John Parker, Lake County’s historian and archaeologist, for taking the time to educate us about the history of Lake County at our Tutor Appreciation.

March 2024 Lake County Literacy Coalition Bingo Fundraiser for Literacy had a fantastic turnout. The support and enthusiasm from our community members, board members, and volunteers was truly appreciated and contributed greatly to the success of the night.
